Casey Group bring retail excellence to the forecourt

The Casey Group started out 20 years ago in Castlebar with two men, Gerry Casey and Terry McShane, who believed they could change the face of forecourt retailing and introduce restaurant quality food in a convenience shopping environment. They set out on a mission to provide a great food service offer and have since opened six successful sites in Castlebar, Ballina, Galway, Limerick and Newbridge. The beginning of 2017 saw a positive change for the business, with all sites changing brand to Londis – another famous Irish-owned retail brand. This move allowed the group to strengthen the business by adding new and exciting concepts. Having re-evaluated their offering and considering the rapidly changing consumer demands, they realised it was time to extend their fresh food offering.

The Casey Group knew it had to reinvent itself – and that brings us up to Friday (August 18) and the opening of the revamped Castlebar store. Casey’s have brought innovative new concepts to cater for busy changing lifestyles and now Casey’s Londis Castlebar is the ultimate in convenience shopping. The store has been transformed with the new-look template for the Casey group, introducing The Kitchen at Casey’s – offering a vast range of hot, cold, breakfast, lunch and dinner menus prepared by the expert in-house chefs under the new company brand.

Also new to the store is the Chopped franchise – a rapidly growing healthy food brand – plus a full bakery with freshly baked breads daily, sweet treats for all, four new coffee stations offering Bewley’s best, and two spacious seating areas to relax and enjoy time with friends.

In conjunction with Londis, Casey’s have also introduced a Londis Smart reward card that offers reduced prices on a whole host of lines in-store and a fresh food ordering app for Londis Deli and Chopped which enables customers to order from home or the office and pick up at the required time.

Casey’s Londis Castlebar would not be a success without its staff and the group added 20 new employees over the past number of months across all its fresh food areas. The new dynamic of youth and experience – the exuberance of youth and the assuredness of age – gives the store a fun-filled atmosphere in which shoppers can enjoy their experience on each visit.

‘The customer is king’ is an old cliché but it is a principal the business was built upon. The customer is king, and each shopping experience must be exactly that – a wonderful
experience for the customer where quality and value are received through the warm friendliness of the team in store. The group’s mantra is ‘sharing our love for food’, and this is the aim of
every employee every day.

The Castlebar store is now designed with a 50/50 split between fresh and grocery. It offers a vast range of fresh food products seven days a week, along with the necessary range of everyday excellent value grocery lines, full off-licence, and brand-new customer facilities. This refocus and renewed drive from both Gerry and the Casey group forward for the next 20 years, supported all the while by its great staff and loyal customers.
